CloudStack Senior Engineer

We are seeking a talented Apache CloudStack Engineer to join our dynamic team and help drive the development and management of our cloud infrastructure.

As an Apache CloudStack Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing our cloud infrastructure using Apache CloudStack. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud services.

Responsibilities
  1. Installing, configuring, and maintaining Apache CloudStack infrastructure in accordance with project requirements.
  2. Managing infrastructure resources, including compute, storage, and networking components.
  3.  Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to CloudStack deployment, virtual machine provisioning, and infrastructure performance.
  4. Monitoring resource utilization and planning for scalability to ensure adequate capacity for current and future workloads.
  5. Developing scripts and automation tools to streamline deployment processes, configuration management, and repetitive tasks.
  6. Implementing security best practices to safeguard cloud infrastructure and data, including access control, encryption, and compliance with security standards.
  7.  Integrating CloudStack with other systems and platforms, such as billing systems, monitoring tools, and identity management solutions.
  8. Identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing cloud infrastructure for improved efficiency and responsiveness.
  9. Creating and maintaining documentation for configuration settings, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices.
  10. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure seamless operation of the cloud environment.
  11. Staying updated with the latest developments in cloud technologies and recommending enhancements to optimize the CloudStack environment.
  12. Responding to incidents and outages promptly, implementing measures to mitigate risks, and ensuring high availability of cloud services.
  13. Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards related to cloud computing, data privacy, and security.
  14. Mastery of cloud computing concepts like IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, coupled with an understanding of best practices, is vital for the development and deployment of robust cloud solutions.
Skills And Abilityy
  1. In-depth knowledge of cloud computing models such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
  2. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Apache CloudStack, including installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  3.  Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as XenServer, KVM, VMware, or Hyper-V.
  4.  Expertise in networking principles including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing. knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) concepts is a plus.
  5.  Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks and configuration management.
  6.  Strong background in Linux/Unix systems administration, including experience with system performance tuning, security, and troubleshooting.
  7.  Knowledge of storage technologies like SAN, NAS, and object storage. Understanding storage protocols such as iSCSI, NFS, and Ceph is beneficial.
  8. Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) and logging frameworks (e.g., ELK stack) for system performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
  9. Understanding of cloud security best practices, including data encryption, access control, and network security.
  10.  Ability to document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps effectively.
  11. Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  12.  Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  13.  Willingness to stay updated with the latest developments in cloud computing technologies and trends.
Required Skill Set & Experience
  1. Linux and windows user and system administrator
  2. Hypervisor technologies such as XenServer, VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V, BareMetal (IPMI)
  3.  Networking LAN, WAN, SD-WAN etc
    Storage protocols and technologies (CIFS and NFS, object storage s3 etc)
  4. Deploying, supporting & managing clouds-based Infrastructure & Applications.
  5. Debugging and resolving production issues in Cloud.
  6. Contribution to an opensource project (Open CloudStack project)
  7.  Architectural knowledge of CloudStack / CMP (Cloud Management Platform)
  8. Shell scripts and Python
  9. Automation and configuration management using technologies such as Ansible, GitHub, Terraform, Jenkins
  10. Provisioning and governance of different application servers (Database. .net, Java etc).
  11. Knowledge in Java, Tomcat, Spring, Spring Boot, Maven
  12. Knowledge in Angular, JavaScript, RestfulAPI, Git.
Education/Qualification
  1. Bachelor’s degree in design, Computer Science, or a related field.
